Select a Weight Range:

As is the case with most electronic products, projectors have a few important features which are crucial to understand before making the right purchase. Along with brightness and resolution, weight is often an important consideration. If you're not sure of an ideal weight, you may want to ask yourself if weight is even an issue for the projector. If your projector is going to be mounted overhead in a training or conference room, weight might not be a key consideration.

On the other hand, if you plan on transporting your projector, weight will be critical to your future happiness. While a pound or two of difference may not sound significant, consider lugging a projector from the office to a taxi onto an airplane, back into a taxi and then over to the conference center. And don't forget you're already responsible for your laptop, your notes, and any other extra materials or luggage. Weight becomes an important factor for anyone planning to travel with a projector.

Weight is categorized in the projector industry in the following manner:

  • Microportables - 6 lbs. or less
  • Portables - 6.1 lbs. to 10 lbs.
  • Desktop Install - 15.1 lbs. to 30 lbs.
  • Fixed Install - 30.1 lbs. to 50 lbs.
  • Medium Venue - 50.1 lbs. to 100 lbs.
  • Large Venue - 100 lbs. or more
